This is the first real quality shot of an empty wave I caught in the spring of 1998.

This surf break is the right off of world renowned Pipeline. Backdoor is actually more dangerous and challenging as it is not only as steep and hollow as Pipe, it's faster and breaks in shallower water, depositing you right into the inside impact zone where the next break meets up with you.

Riding Backdoor barrels like this is reserved for the best All else feel her punch.
